    Day 1: Cusco - EcoManu Lodge
  • Manu National Park

    Pick up from your Hotel in Cusco, to start our journey through mountains, beautiful landscapes, folkloric communities such as Paucartambo and Ninamarca (chullpas or funerary tombs). Immediately we arrive at Acjanaco, entrance to the MANU NATIONAL PARK, from where we will descend to the leafy cloud forest that is home to a great variety of wild flora and fauna. Being an ideal place for epiphytes, orchids, bromĂŠelas, etc. We explore the cloud forest and we can appreciate the National bird of Peru, the Cock of the Rock in its ritual mating dance, as well as toucans, trogons, quetzals, monkeys and with luck the spectacled bear of South America (Tremantus ornatos). Continuing the excursion we pass through small towns in the Amazon and arrive at the port of Aatalaya, where our motorized boat awaits us to take us down the Madre de Dios River in the direction of the EcoManu lodge.   • Day 2: EcoManu Lodge

    We wake up to the song of the birds and the exuberant Amazon jungle, after a healthy breakfast we will explore the lush Amazon forest through the different trails and appreciate the giant rubber trees, tonillos, ficus, which are home to groups of capuchin monkeys. , woolly monkeys, howler monkeys and dozens of bird species such as colorful parrots, parrots, woodpeckers, etc. In the mid-afternoon we go to the mammal clay lick, a very special place in the Amazon jungle. After 35 minutes we will arrive at the hideout and when the day is over a great experience begins. The hiding place is a wooden platform more than 4 meters high, it is perfectly camouflaged among the trees, located in front of the mammal clay lick, there we will observe the mythical Amazonian tapir, peccaries, deer and hopefully the largest feline in South America Jaguar (Panther onca). It has mosquito net mats to wait for the arrival of mammals.

    Very early in the morning we board our boat to go to the small colpa (clay wall containing mineral salts), where many noisy parakeets, parrots and small green macaws ingest the clay as part of their diet. Continuing our expedition in the Amazon we will go to the Machuwasi lagoon, with a telescope we will observe a great variety of lake birds such as herons, hawks, ducks, hoatzins, orioles, families of capybara (the largest rodent in the world) and with luck an anaconda. . In the afternoon we will enjoy the tropical waters. At night we will have a short walk along the river, entering a bit into the forest to find small abandoned lakes full of vegetation. here we can find one of the largest reptiles in the Amazon. We will search with our flashlights for the red eyes of the caimans and with the help of our guide we will observe these impressive reptiles up close.
