Langtang Valley Trek

Langtang Valley Trek incorporates a venture into the beautifully remote valley of Langtang with its high mountain lakes and the beautiful Kyanjin Gompa. The Langtang Valley Trekking trail is nestled in one of the most unspoiled national park of Nepal, to the north of Kathmandu near the Tibetan border and is the most easily accessible highland sanctuary from the capital. Snow-capped mountains encapsulate this remote valley with the peak of Langtang Lirung (7246m) dominating the skyline while thick forests, lush farmland, traditional villages and the deep gorges of the Bhote Koshi and the Langtang Khola prevail on the valley floor. The colorful rhododendron, oak, maple and alder tree forests are home to an array of wildlife; wild boar, Himalayan black bears, ghoral, grey langur monkeys, leopards, musk deer and the endangered red panda all call this lush, green sanctuary home.

What To Expect

    Day 1: Ride a bus to Syabrubesi.

  • We ride a local bus to Syabrubesi. it takes about 7 hours roughly depending on traffic situation along the way. You can see countryside views during the drive.

    • Day 2: Trek to Lama Hotel.

  • This is the day we start our trekking. Today we go for easy to moderate walk reaching elevation of 2500 meters at Lama Hotel. Terrain includes gentle inclines, well defined paths, riverbank trails, forest tracks and a suspension bridge to cross the river.

    • Day 3: Trek to Langtang Village.
  • Langtang Valley Trek

    Today we reach Langtang Village situated at altitude of 3430 meters after walking roughly about 6.5 hours through forest and river bank trails with gentle inclines, grassy meadows with view to Mount Langtang Lirung, pine forest etc.

    • Day 4: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa.
  • Kyanjin Gompa

    After walking moderately for 5 hours we reach Kyanjin Gompa, famous monastery in Langtang area. Walking through farmland, bridges and gentle ascents with views of Langshisha and Langtang Lirun we reach Kyanjin Monastery situated at 3830 meters.

    • Day 5: Side trip to Kyanjin Ri or Tsergo Ri.
  • Kyanjin Gompa

    Today you will have options for your day trip. You can either go to Kyanjin Ri or Tsergo Ri. Its roughly 3 hours return trip to Kyanjin Ri situated at 4773 meters and 7/8 hours to Tsergo Ri situated at 4984 meters. Your group can decide when you all reach Kyanjin on Day 5. Views on offer: There are some pretty amazing mountain views from Kyanjin Ri but you get the best views of Langtang Lirung, Langsisha and Ganja La Ridge, Yala Peak and Langtang Ri from the top of Tsergo Ri.

    • Day 6: Trek to Lama Hotel.
  • Langtang National Park

    We now trace back the same route to lama Hotel walking for about 6 hours through riverbank and forest trails.Enjoy views of sweet smelling pine forests and look for an array of wildlife and giant beehives.

    • Day 7: Trek to Syabrubesi.

  • Another descend to Syabrubesi where we started our trek. Go through gentle and some steep descents walking on well defined trekking paths to reach Syabru to end our trekking days and be ready for ride back to the capital.

    • Day 8: Ride local bus to Kathmandu.
