Day 1: Arrival in Bujumbura
• Rusizi National Park

  Arrive in Bujumbura, pick up and transfer to your hotel- Safari Gate. Depending on the arrival time, we may proceed with the city tour.

• Rusizi National Park

  Rusizi National Park is a national park in Burundi, next to the Rusizi River. It is 15 km north of the city of Bujumbura and home to hippopotamuses and sitatungas. Gustave, a Nile crocodile, is rumored to have killed 300 people here.

• Bujumbura

  Part of the Rift Valley lake system, Lake Tanganyika is the longest freshwater lake in the world (420 miles) and extends into Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Numerous rivers flow into the lake, including the Rusizi, and in turn, it flows outwards into the Lukuga which forms part of the Congo Basin. It is home to around 400 different species of fish including many cichlid species which are found only here. It was first ‘discovered’ by the explorers Burton and Speke in 1858 during their search for the source of the Nile, and saw action during World War I when British and German forces engaged in gunboat battles on the lake.

Day 2: Karera Waterfalls-Source Of Nile-Gishora Drum Sanctuary
• Karera Waterfalls

  After breakfast at 7:00 A.M, transfer to Rutana to see the amazing Karera waterfalls and the source of Nile in Rutovu. Visit Gitega national museum a collection of artifacts and antiquities from Burundi and Gishora drum sanctuary before transfer to Bujumbura. Overnight at your hotel.

• Karera Waterfalls

  Karera Waterfalls or the chutes de la Karera is a collective name attributed to four waterfalls found in Burundi- in the province of Rutana. The beautiful one of the four waterfalls is the one you reach first when you get there. It is where you can park your car. Upstream from this is often the tiniest of the four falls, Nyakai II, a perfect spot where you can have an impromptu shower. This watercourse is linked to that of Mwaro Falls before creating the namesake and tallest waterfall within the area- Karera Falls. They are approximately 70 m tall and they are one of the most beautiful natural wonders in Burundi.

Day 3: Bujumbura City Tour
• Livingstone-Stanley Monument

  A day tour of Burundi Cultural and Historical. After breakfast, pick up at the hotel and go for a city tour in Bujumbura including • Visiting Rusizi National Park where a boat trip is possible to let you explore closer the hippos and birds in Rusizi River; • Islam Culture Centre; The Explorers Memorial, a huge rock in the Suburbs of Bujumbura commemorating the meeting between explorers Livingstone & Stanley; • Independence hero mausoleum & Unity monument • Belvedere Hill offering a nice of Lake Tanganyika and the city. • Relax at the beach • Transfer back to the hotel/ airport drop off
